Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What exactly is the Right Edge Putt Tracker?

The Right Edge Putt Tracker is a putting improvement tool that lets you strike a putt on a small (6" x 36") artificial green surface, and then observe the full would-be rollout and result of the putt.

This capability allows golfers to experience the benefits of practicing putts on an actual golf green - of whatever speed and slope to the cup that they wish - while at home, or anywhere else that can fit the 8"x36" Putt Tracker device.

In this video you can see the ball being struck on the Putt Tracker device, and then the Putt Tracker application rendering the putt rollout on a (stimpmeter 11) green.

This is most helpful for golfers that want to dial in and fine tune their distance control, but it's also helpful for spotting directional tendencies (for example, pushing putts inside 4') as well.

How can the Right Edge Putt Tracker improve my putting?

There are a lot of different ways your Right Edge Putt Tracker can be used to help improve your putting - Here are just a few of those ways:

1. Allows you to try different things with your putting stroke. Whether from instructional YouTube videos, "Fax" dropping a tip during a broadcast, or an actual putting lesson, we hear putting tips and ideas all the time. And then if we remember them the next time we're out at the course, we might try them for a few strokes on the putting green and/or during our next round of golf.

Ultimately though, we discard the idea because it feels awkward/uncomfortable, nothing changes, and we continue with our mediocre putting.

With your Right Edge Putt Tracker, you can strike 100 putts - seeing the actual rollout/result of each as if you're standing on the green - in 30 minutes or less, from any room in your house! This allows you to, without investing a ton of time at the course, give those ideas/tips an honest chance by getting beyond that awkward/uncomfortable phase with them, and truly find out which of them work for you.

2. Helps you burn-in muscle memory like the pros. Ever notice how smooth the pros are with their putting strokes, regardless of distance? While there may be multiple reasons for that, the biggest one is that they have struck enough putts (repetitions) at different paces, and developed distance control consistency via muscle memory.

When our brain has to not only determine required pace, but then also focus on trying to guide our many muscles (core, shoulders, arms, wrists, etc) - even if that means tightening some to reduce their impact - to generate that required pace, it's what causes the common problems of "decel" and "stabbing" while putting.

The pros have effectively offloaded all this mental processing related to simply controlling the distance of their putts to their muscle memory.

Without a Right Edge Putt Tracker, this requires a huge time investment at the putting green. Time that most of us don't have.

3. Helps you find, and then correct, hard-to-spot tendencies. Over time, as you strike more and more putts at different lengths on your Right Edge Putt Tracker, your tendencies are revealed.

For example: You may learn that you tend to pull shorter putts, and push longer putts. This is not a too uncommon problem, but it's extremely difficult - if not impossible - to pick up from just your time on the putting green before your rounds of golf and/or from your putting during your rounds of golf.

You can't correct the tendencies you don't know you have.

We are actually in the process of building out a whole section of our website dedicated to helping you most effectively utilize your Right Edge Putt Tracker to improve your putting, which you can visit here: Improving with Your Putt Tracker

What do I need to have to be able to use a Right Edge Putt Tracker?

There are only two things you absolutely need to be able to use a Right Edge Putt Tracker:

1. Floor space of at least 4ft x 4ft.
2. A computer (desktop, laptop, or tablet) running Microsoft Windows 10 or newer.

Of course it's nice if you have a relatively large monitor or TV (or projector) to which the computer can connect - because it looks really cool on a larger screen - but that's not something you need.

Also, available WiFi is nice to have as that enables a simpler, more convenient user experience (no wires), but not necessary for using the Right Edge Putt Tracker.

I only have a Mac (Apple), so what are my options for using a Right Edge Putt Tracker?

At this point, we only have a Windows version of our application, and being able to run the software is necessary for using the Right Edge Putt Tracker.

If you only have a Mac, but want to be able to use a Right Edge Putt Tracker, here are what we think are your two best options:

1. Install and run VMware on your Mac that allows you to run Windows applications on your Mac. One VMware within which we have verified the Right Edge Putt Tracker application successfully running on a Mac is Parallels VMware (https://www.parallels.com/).

Or, what we think is by far the best option:

2. Purchase an inexpensive Microsoft Surface Pro tablet to run with your Right Edge Putt Tracker. If you're only using it with your Right Edge Putt Tracker, even older/refurbished models that you can get from Amazon for around $150 (at the time of this writing) are more than sufficient.

One of the nice things about the Right Edge Putt Tracker is its portability (it's super easy to just pick it up and take for use in any room in your house - Or your friends' houses for that matter), and having a tablet computer like this allows you to maximize that portability.

The tablet can connect to any TV/monitor/projector with an HDMI, or you can just use the tablet itself if you want to use the Putt Tracker somewhere that doesn't currently have a computer and/or TV/monitor - Literally anywhere, you just turn on the device, start the application on the tablet (they automatically connect), and you're putting.

Minimum requirements for the tablet (which they almost all have):

- Windows 10 or newer operating system.
- At least one USB port.
- Video out port (HDMI or Mini-DisplayPort)(*)
- WiFi

(*) To connect a Mini-DisplayPort to the HDMI input of our TV/monitor/projector, you'll need a Mini-DisplayPort to HDMI adapter (for example: this one for $9.59 on Amazon)
