What exactly is a Right Edge Putt Tracker? What does it do? How does it work? If you have any of those questions, you've come to the right place.
What is a Right Edge Putt Tracker?
The Right Edge Putt Tracker and its accompanying free simulation software (note: requires Microsoft Windows) is like a golf launch monitor, but specifically designed for highly-accurate detection/simulation of putts/rollouts, something that has been at best an afterthought with traditional golf launch monitors.
What does it do?
Unlike a putting mat which has one speed and requires a lot of space, the Right Edge Putt Tracker provides true, real-world feedback of putts up to 50'(†), on any green speed you select, while only requiring 3' x 8" of space.
In the simulation software, you establish the speed of the green (stimp value) on which you want to putt, along with (optionally) a cup distance and slope angle to the cup.
Then, when you strike putts with your own putter and golf balls in front of your Putt Tracker device, within just the first 18" of roll, the Putt Tracker accurately determines the strike velocity and direction/angle of your putts and transmits that information to the simulation software. Upon receiving information about each putt, the full rollout of your putt is modeled and rendered as if the putt were struck on the green you specified.
Among other features, the simulation application software implements this fundamental capability to enable fully customizable putting practice sessions, predefined challenge/drill sessions, as well as multiplayer games.

How does it do it?
With our patent-pending approach, each device (Putt Tracker and Putt Tracker STICK) is equipped with multiple high-speed infrared (IR) laser ranging sensors, and depending on the orientation of the current putter (RIGHT/LEFT handed), two are utilized for putt roll detection. As the ball rolls through the field of view of the sensors, they are taking range measurements that when combined, determine a precise velocity and direction/angle (relative to center) of each putt.
