What and How: The Right Edge Putt Tracker

What exactly is a Right Edge Putt Tracker? What does it do? How does it work? If you have any of those questions, you've come to the right place.

What is a Right Edge Putt Tracker?

The Right Edge Putt Tracker is like a golf launch monitor, but specifically designed for highly accurate detection of putts, and putt rollout simulation.

It uses patent-pending infrared laser sensor technology and works with Right Edge Golf's free, fully-featured (and subscription-free) putt simulation software.

Designed for easy setup and portability, there are no required calibration processes, no wires, and you can use the same putter and golf balls that you use on the course.

What can you do with a Right Edge Putt Tracker?

Fundamentally, as you roll putts in front of the Putt Tracker device, based on detected strike velocity and ball path (angle), along with the green speed and slope (uphill/downhill) you established in the simulation software, you see true, immediate feedback regarding each putt's rollout.

Merely in the space required for your putting stance, you can practice putts up to 50'(†) just like you're on a real putting green. With the Right Edge Putt Tracker simulation and analysis application, you can practice a single putt over and over, or the software can randomly select different distances and/or slopes to the cup with each putt. This allows you to do your own putting drills, but the simulation software also includes pre-built putting drills (aka "Challenges") that can be done either on your own, or as multi-player games with up to 10 players.

Outside of the included simulation software, you can use the native-built Right Edge Putt Tracker GSPro OpenAPI connector for putting in the GSPro golf simulation application (full course play or putting green).

What data does the application provide/track?

We're always adding more data, but among other things:

  • Basic/Percentage: Made, missed, left, right, too long, short, too short
  • Average rollout distance (relative to target distance)
  • Average launch direction
  • Standard deviations (one and two) for distance and launch direction
  • Strokes Gained (SG) putting (average, 18-hole average)

How does this help my putting?

This might seem odd coming from us, but, it doesn't!

The Right Edge Putt Tracker helps YOU help your putting.

Contrary to the bold claims accompanying all the silly training aids out there, there is no magic improvement device where you just use it and it somehow makes you better. The Right Edge Putt Tracker is no different in that regard.

To truly improve your putting, there simply is no substitute or shortcut for purposeful practice - And there never will be.

For most of us, we have jobs, families, and life. Purposeful practice at the course, on the putting green, takes a massive amount of time that we don't have.

By providing the feedback of a real, full-sized putting green - which is necessary for productive, purposeful practice - but in the convenience of your own home, a Right Edge Putt Tracker makes purposeful practice at home possible. Any time of day, any season of the year, snow, rain, or shine - You effectively have access to your own, full-sized putting green.

How does it do it?

Right Edge Putt Tracker devices utilize multiple high-speed infrared (IR) laser ranging sensors (also known as LIDAR sensors). As the ball rolls through the sensor field, measurements are taken to determine precise velocity and direction. This data is transmitted to the simulation software, which models the full rollout on the green speed and slope you have selected.

How much space does the Right Edge Putt Tracker require?

The device has a compact footprint of just 36 inches x 8 inches (24 inches x 2 inches for the Putt Tracker STICK). After initial configuration it requires no wires or extra components, and can be set up and stored away in seconds.

Does the Right Edge Putt Tracker require a subscription?

No. The Right Edge Putt Tracker simulation software is free to download and requires no subscription. Note: The software does require Microsoft Windows 10 or later.

What is the difference between the Putt Tracker and the Putt Tracker STICK?

The original Putt Tracker has an integrated putting surface and ball stop, supports putts up to 25(†) feet, and is designed for use anywhere.

The Putt Tracker STICK has no integrated putting surface and is designed for use on a separate putting mat/surface such as those commonly found in home and commercial golf simulator setups - it supports putts up to 50(†) feet.
